The Call That Changed Everything
It began with a phone call. "Mario, we’ve got a problem. Hospitals are out of control, and we need you to work more." Without hesitation, I dived deeper into my work. What started as four-hour consulting blocks quickly escalated to 21 hours a day. By the time July arrived, with its promise of a traditional family vacation, I was utterly spent.
Arriving in Boston, I was eager to reconnect with my family. I fantasized about beach days, bike rides, and shared meals. However, the reality was starkly different. My wife and I had drifted apart, the casualty of my unchecked workaholism. When I attempted to rekindle our intimacy, she physically recoiled—her actions speaking louder than words ever could.
The Moment of Truth
The more I sought connection, the more I pushed her away, until finally, she reached her breaking point. "I need you… the REAL you!" she said. Those words, coupled with the emotional distance between us, forced me to confront a painful truth: It wasn’t devotion, love, or commitment we lacked, but my presence and self-awareness.
Turning the "Biggest No" into the "Biggest Yes"
This realization sparked a profound transformation within me. I began to prioritize what truly mattered—being present and connected with my wife and children. The change was dramatic and immediate. What was once laborious and strained became natural and fulfilling.
It is from this experience plus years of therapy & courses that Alive Partner was born.
